82% of manufacturing has failed to deal with operations in the IMTS
The Venezuelan Confederation of Industries (Conindustria) said this Tuesday the new system of securities transactions in foreign currency (Sitma) is not a solution to Venezuela's industrial enterprises.
The claim was expressed by the Confederation, after conducting a survey flash. The analysis revealed that most of these companies have failed to perform any operations under this mode, warning that the approved amount, in case of positive transaction-is insufficient for its operations.
Among the sectors affected are in the glass industry, paper, non-metallic mineral products containing alcohol, footwear, plastic, snuff, auto parts, chemicals, aluminum, food processing and graphic arts.
Specifically, 87% of employers said that the IMTS is not a solution for your currency. Among the few who have access to this new system, the same percentage said they approved amount was not enough. On average the companies surveyed felt that the monthly amount of foreign exchange allocation should be $ 1,814,636 and / or $ 11,341,200 annually.
addition, 96% of respondents considered that the exchange rate system, as currently designed, will affect its production levels, which would mean that cause many problems of supply of goods for the next quarter of the year to ask what percentage production could be affected, the average response was 41% which is extremely worrying.
Regarding the Foreign Exchange Administration Commission (Cadivi), 61% of companies said they manage their foreign exchange resources in this way, and noted an improvement in delivery times, going from an average delay of 130 and 180 days in 2009 to approximately 90 days to 120 days in July 2010.
100% of the companies surveyed said requiring a Certificate of Non-Production (CNP) to access foreign currency by Cadivi, which also becomes an obstacle to the proceedings before that body since the Ministry of Science and Technology takes 24 days for delivery, the Ministry of Basic Industries (Mibam), 145 days and other offices, 85 days. Additionally, the industry reported that the Ministry of Science and Technology approves only 85% of CNP requested, the Mibam, 45% and other government departments, 83%
Conindustria considers to be reviewed to fund the current exchange rate system in order to have a credible, reliable and agile that gives certainty to the market and help to foster a climate for investments.
